Flood in Zakarpattia

"O Lord,You give me light, you dispel my darkness."

(Psalm 18:28)

Hard natural disaster overtook Zakarpatja. As a result of intensive, and in the mountains in some places very hard and lasting rains and wet snow-falls on the 1-11 of March in the region formed unprecedented in the history of the region flood. Khustiv, Tjachiv, Vynogradiv, Beregiv, Irshava, Mizhgirja, Rahiv, and Uzhgorod districts are the most affected by flood. As it figured out on the 15-th of March 216 villages and 21334 houses were filled with water, 1100 houses are destroyed, 13768 people moved away, 9 people died.
Condole on the suffering of people affected by the flood, understanding the needs and problems, coursed by disaster on the 14-16th of March 2001 the workers of Scandinavian children's mission in Ukraine went to Zakarpattja with humanitarian help. We have been to Khustiv, Tjachiv and Vinogradiv districts; to the most affected villages Tekovo and Sasovo. In these villages 845 houses were filled with water, 515 houses were completely destroyed. People remain not only without the place to live but also without the means of existence, as all the food-reserves and property are gone with whirlpool. That is why really like a gift from Heaven, as God's blessing accepted suffering people from affected villages warm clothes and shoes, blankets, medical materials.

"May the Lord answer you when you are in trouble! May the Lord of Jacob protect you!" (Psalm 20:1)
SCM is planing new trips to Zakarpattja to help the people who suffer from flood. We believe that with God's help, mutual support and understanding hard consequences of disaster will be overcame.

Evangelical work in 2001

Nowadays the world is full of sad news: stealings, killings, acts of rebellion... Television, radio, the press tell us about it everyday. But we have a Good News for everyone: God of the Universe loves You! He proved this love, by sending His Only Son - Jesus Christ on this earth. With this news, the workers of SCM visit orphanages, prisons, hospitals, schools telling people about Jesus and a way to Eternity.
